Our History

Shepherd's Heart International was founded in the United States in 2012 by Jessica and Michael Page and a board of four others. After visiting Kenya on a short-term trip in 2009, the couple was overwhelmed by the needs of the region. They began to partner with a local leaders in order to help raise funds for construction of a children's home near Nairobi Kenya. During the process of gathering information, it was discovered that the children had immediate needs that trumped the need for a new home. They needed basic necessities, caregivers and education expenses until suitable homes could be found for them. They also needed social workers and counselors that could trace families and help find homes for them.

Since the first visit, we have partnered with two smaller children's rescue centers to successfully place more than 40 children living in group homes into families. These families are monitored monthly and are provided assistance until they are able to stand on their own.

Our next goal was to help the children and adults that we work with to provide for their own needs. We hoped to see these programs becoming more and more self-sufficient and even begin to reach out and help others in their own communities to do the same. After attending a C.O.S.I.M. conference, the Page's along with the board of directors realized that there was a great need to fund projects that would allow the programs to have the capability to provide for their own needs. Sustainability programs began in September of 2015 including a poultry program that now consists of nearly 2000 laying hens. This program not only provides an income for one of our programs, but also provides a protein source to the community.

We look forward to the day when there are more than enough homes for each child who needs one. Until then, we will continue in this journey of investing in the efforts of ministry leaders to rescue vulnerable children and place them in loving homes.

Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. When we say inspired and without error, we mean we believe this to be verbal, plenary, infallible, and inerrant throughout.

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now sits as our High Priest and Advocate.

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

We believe that human beings were created in the image of God but fell into sin and are therefore lost. Only through personal faith in Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

We believe that the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ through faith are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.

We believe that the true Church is composed of all such persons who through personal faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is Head.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church.

We believe in the bodily return of Jesus, and the bodily resurrection of the dead – of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord.

Jason Nicholas

Executive Director

In 2015 Jason was blessed to be a part of a short term trip to Kenya that was purposed to discover the most urgent needs of our ministry and document the stories of the children. During this trip God brought him full circle on an idea based in Mark 10:14 where Jesus said to let the little children come unto him unhindered. As the trip unfolded, the team saw a theme develop; No Story, No Glory. Seeing God work through people halfway around the world to remove the hindrances of hunger, homelessness, and loneliness in the lives of these children, seeing their lives redeemed physically and spiritually by the good news of Jesus provided a platform to give God glory by telling the story. Jason has been excited to tell that Story to whoever would listen and has now joined the Board of Directors.

Jason graduated from Furman University with a degree in Political Science and a concentration in Business Communication. He is a Certified Medical Practice Executive and has worked in the healthcare industry for the last 13 years. Jason serves the local church as Missions Director, student ministry small group leader, and co-teacher of young adult Sunday School.

Jason married his high school sweetheart ,Rachel, in 2001. They have four awesome boys; Noah, Jackson, Josiah, and Caleb who make things loud and dirty with little time for fishing, reading or sleeping in a hammock, all of which he hopes to rediscover with his boys one day.
