Pastor Joseph Kerongo Memorial Egg Project

We started out with a desire to help provide an income for one of our partners in Kenya, as well as a training center for youth to learn a trade. Since we had had previous success with an egg project, we set out to start a small-scale egg project for this purpose.

God provided the funding very quickly and plans were made to begin construction of the chicken house and order the chicks. Pastor Joseph, who would run the project, was sent for training, working with our first chicken project for about a week.

Unfortunately, very soon after his return, the pastor was tragically killed when his vehicle struck head on by a speeding lorry. The entire community was in mourning and the family devastated. A plan was quickly made to expedite the project in order to provide immediate support for the family, who were now left without their patriarch.

Pastor Joseph’s’ wife and adult son decided to head up the project themselves. The land was cleared, supplies purchased, and the chicken house was built in early March, 2023. Soon after 500 laying hens arrived. The hens were already starting to lay eggs so the project should begin providing an income for the family in the next few months.

We thank God for all of you who donated to make this project possible! I can’t wait to post an update on the profitability of the project.
