Mama Zachariah

Mama Zachariah is an elderly widow. Her youngest child and one grandchild lived with her in a mud home in rural Kenya. She spent her life savings to buy the plot of land where her home was located only to find out years later that she didn’t legally own the land and had been swindled.

Her boys had gone to the streets to search for work and food but found nothing good. Social Workers with the Chosen Generation Reintegration Program began supporting the family with emergency food and school fees for the grandson. Our social workers enrolled her son into a trade school to learn to be a mechanic. Still nothing could be done to save the land that she saved for.

We were able to purchase a small plot of land in a nice village and build her a permanent home with electricity and running water! She now has a place to pass down to her family that has her name legally on the deed.
